This place is really amazing. Just so different than anywhere else (and anywhere I have been for sure). Many think of a desert as just a bunch of sand, but this place reminds me of the planet Mars.
It is constantly making me just shake my head in awe (and wonder).
It is also incredibly quiet (almost surreal in its quietness) and thereby grants a certain unique serenity. The lack of sound is so different than a forest (another place that is away from “civilization”) because there is no wildlife.
I really like it. It feels so intensely “away”.
There won’t be any spectators but I will have a lot to look at.
I will be racing on another planet.
Chris
Good luck tomorrow, Chris!
Where was this picture taken? You didn’t say.
Death Valley! I was in Furnace Creek, CA a few days before becoming the first person to run the Death Valley Marathon barefoot.
It is a gorgeous and amazing place that I am definitely going back to someday!
